Vellerukkan Thiri / White Calotropis Wick

Thin fibres made out of the stems of White Calotropis is made a wick, and is called is vellerukkan thiri

The flowers of Calotropis is favourite to Lord Ganesha and also he is being worshipped by lighting lamps with the vellerukkan Thiri (The wick made of White Calotrophis).

Astrologically, during Chandrashtama days, if the lamps is lighted with vellerukkan thiri, is considered to be dhosa nivarti.

The latex of Calotropis gigantea contains cardiac glycosides, fatty acids, and calcium oxalate. Hence. Scientifically when we light the lamp with the fibres of this, it helps improve our Cardiac strength.

(1.) வெள்ளருகன் செடியின் தண்டில் இருந்து எடுக்கும் இழைகள் உபயோகித்து வெள்ளருகன் திரி தயாரிக்கபடுகிறது.

(2.) வெள்ளருகன் செடியில் இருந்து தயாரிக்கபடும் திரியை கொண்டு விளக்கு ஏற்றி விநாயக பெருமானை வணங்குவார்கள்.
